Washington, DC – Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui (CA-5) announced that Rancho Cordova-based ACM Systems will receive $1.1 million to develop systems that allow U.S forces to make more intelligent battle decisions.   The funding was included in the fiscal year 2007 Department of Defense Appropriations bill.   

 

“Our men and women in uniform put their lives on the line every day and I am pleased to support the research and creation of a system that will better protect our troops when they are on the front lines,” stated Congresswoman Matsui.  “This federal investment will help with revitalization of the city; helping to build and grow their economy, as well as the entire Sacramento-area economy.”

 

The $1.1 million is to support the design and development of equipment by Rancho Cordova company, ACM Systems, which will better coordinate troop and equipment movement in the battlefield – improving efficiency – for the Department of Defense.  The company is developing a system to improve our military’s field performance.  This funding, which builds upon the $1.5 million the Congresswoman secured for the project in last year’s appropriations process, will also directly support the economic development and job creation in the Rancho Cordova community.

 Added Rancho Cordova City Councilmember Linda Budge, “We are extremely proud of ACM’s growth over the last decade from a start up to a thriving member of the Rancho Cordova business community.  The federal funding expands upon Rancho Cordova’s longstanding history of support for our men and women in uniform, wherever they are stationed.”   

The Senate is also expected to pass the conference report this week, so it can be signed by the President.

 Background on ACM SystemsACM Systems is based out of Rancho Cordova and has over 150 employees specializing in designing, manufacturing and customizing hardware and software products for the Department of Defense. Last year they generated $57 million dollars in revenue. Established in 1983, ACM Systems boasts a highly experienced system engineering staff with expertise in leading-edge digital software and mechanical design disciplines. In addition to the Digital Battlefield Instrumentation discussed above, ACM produces jammers that disable Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) that are used against US troops in Iraq.
