Washington, DC - Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui (CA-5) issued the following statement praising the Senate Appropriation Committee’s addition of much-needed funds to the Emergency Supplemental Appropriation Bill for
Sacramento’s effort to increase flood protection.
“This funding is critically important – it is about protecting families, businesses and our community,” said Congresswoman Matsui. “Sacramentans continue to be unnecessarily at risk each time a warm rain moves through the region – as one is now.”
“As always I have been working closely with Senator Feinstein on this, and I appreciate her yet again demonstrating her strong commitment to
Sacramento’s flood protection needs. She’s a terrific partner, and a great friend to
Sacramento.
“This is the latest step in a process that will take several steps – including Senate final passage and then conference. This is a significant step, but we still have work to do.”
The full Senate is expected to vote on the legislation in late April, following which it will go to House – Senate Conference.
